The Rio Grande Chapter serves the New Mexico area and represents professionals from Government, National Laboratories, Medical Professions and individuals. The Rio Grande Chapter was founded in 1962.

Objectives

The society has several objectives including

  • Develop, disseminate, and apply the scientific knowledge of, and the practical means for, radiation protection.
  • Devise practical means to protect people and the environment from unnecessary exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
  • Encourage scientific research, education, and professional development to assist in the understanding, evaluation, and controlling of risks from ionizing and non-ionizing radiation exposure relative to the benefits derived.

Promote research and educational opportunities in health physics and radiation protection for elementary, high school, college, and university students.
