CRS Executive Council Meeting

Cincinnati Radiation Society Executive Council Meeting --- November 03, 2009

Attendees: Vicki Morris (President), Tim Taulbee (President Elect), Carol Wen (Secretary), Pete Darnell (Council Member) and Doug Draper (Council Member)

Business: HPS Science Support Committee Request S. Elizabeth Kay on behalf of the HPS Science Support Committee emailed Vicki regarding a contact from CRS chapter for the science teacher workshop and/or science outreach activities. Jerry Gels was recommended as a good candidate for the contact and Henry Spitz would be the backup for this position. After the meeting, Vicki contacted both individuals and they have agreed with the appointments. Vicki has informed of Elizabeth Kay the decision.

Procedure to add new member The two members of the membership committee review and approve any new applications. Detailed information is covered in the CRS Rules of Operations, membership committee.

Treasurer Report CRS Treasurer, Elyse Thomas was absent from the meeting, but an email was sent to Vicki with the inclusion of the financial status from the two recent meetings. A total amount of $520.91 was gained from the last two meetings including $480 from the September 2009 meeting and $40.91 from the October 2009 meeting.

As a courtesy, CRS is expected to offer to pay for the lodging for the HPS President-Elect every year when the President-Elect comes to the CRS meeting and this should be included in the CRS Rules of Operations.

November 23 meeting Elyse has not received a contract from Kingsgate for the November CRS meeting, but arrangements were made via phone conversation and no problem is expected. In order to have the private room for free, a minimum of 20 attendees is required.

Meeting 2010 Selection of a meeting location is still a concern for future meetings. Carolyn Hurt from Radiation Safety Office suggested that Maple Knoll might be a good meeting location. Vicki was waiting for more details from Carolyn. The CRS will continue to look for other places for future meetings.

Revision of By-laws and Rules All items for which concerns/questions had been raised were discussed. Pete Darnell will revise the documents based on the discussion. Revised By-laws and Rules will be provided to Vicki for review by 11/05/09. Vicki will provide to the board by 11/13/09.
