Safety is a primary responsibility. Provides leadership for safety programs and field implementation.

Responsible for developing the WCH Radiological Protection Program, assessing implementation and effectiveness, and assuring consistent implementation across WCH projects.

With a thorough understanding of health physics and radiological control technical disciplines, identifies and defines problems, plans, programs, and follows up to ensure action.

Keeps abreast of key health physics and radiological control issues and technological developments. Often researches information and compiles summary reports for department and project management.

Evaluates and interprets all federal/state, regulatory standards, rules, and regulations. Plans and develops cost effective compliance procedures for projects and facilities and monitors their implementation.

Develops, updates, and facilitates radiological control training program. Implements or assists the Training Manager in the implementation of these courses at projects or facilities.

Develops and monitors functional budgets.

Job Related Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Health Physics or related science/engineering area and fifteen (15) years of related experience are required, experience must include five (5) years of management responsibilities. Advanced degree in Health Physics or related science/engineering as well as certification by the American Board of Health Physics is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered for equivalency.

Experienced professional with the skill set necessary to develop and implement comprehensive radiation protection programs as well as the technical competence, experience and judgment to resolve difficult technical issues. Strong organizational skills and effective leadership as well as superior oral and written communication skills are required.

 

 

 

 

PT Radiation Safety Officer

Bruker Handheld, a Kennewick-based division of Bruker Inc.

We design, manufacture and distribute non-destructive testing instruments that use X-ray & isotope sources.

Duties:  meet regulatory requirements of multiple jurisdictions ( national & international); coordinate internal safety program: work with a Technical Consultant. 

 

  Required Qualifications:

·         Experience in X-ray or radioisotope radiation theory and procedures. Note, the vast majority of sales are for X-ray devices, and NOT radioisotope devices.

·         Experience in  national and international X-ray and radioisotope radiation safety regulations, including:

o   Requirements for product certification and sales

o   Requirements for customer training and certification

o   Partner with Sales and Marketing on movement of sales demo instruments within and between jurisdictions. Requires knowledge of, or willingness to learn, local regulations

·         Training and/or certifications in radiation safety

·         Technical degree; prefer BS or advanced degree    

·         Familiarity with national/international regulations in regards to product registrations

·         Ability to adhere to national/international regulations, while remaining flexible in evaluations

·         Capability to successfully garnish the trust and confidence with all national/international contacts, both inside and outside the company, within the industry as well as with government regulators.

·         Ability to maintain and improve our employee radiation safety program

o   Training

o   Coordination of records and reporting requirements (dosimetry, source inventory, periodic government reporting, FDA & NRC requirements, etc

o   Periodic audits (internal and external)

·         Ability to partner with Engineering & Production on design of product safety and assembly to required radiation safety standards. This position will be key interface with certification agencies (TUV SUD and TUV Rhineland).

·         Excellent communication skills, especially with experience in multiple cultures, time zones, and at all levels of corporate and government organizations.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Prefer experience with open-beam handheld X-ray fluorescence instruments

·         Experience working with professional and international standards organizations.
